On the eighth day of YA Book Recommendations, I’m sharing a historical fiction novel about an often unheard WWII story!
Salt to the Sea is based on the sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff, the greatest and most unknown maritime tragedy. This story follows how four teens—Joana, Florian, Emilia, and Alfred—come to board the ship and what happens after they do. Each chapter consists of a few pages and switches off between the four main characters. The beginning of the novel is slow, but the ending more than makes up for it. If you’re a fan of historical fiction and want to learn more about a forgotten tragedy, Salt to the Sea is for you.
