A Conjuring of Light Tour Stop Recap

I had the opportunity to attend my second event at Kepler’s two months ago, which was V.E. Schwab’s tour stop for A Conjuring of Light with special guest Tara Sim! My cousin picked me up after work on Friday and we headed to Menlo Park, where we ate dinner before heading over to the event early.

Victoria jumped into answering questions right away from Tara and then the audience. Interestingly enough, A Darker Shade of Magic was the 75th title that Victoria came up with for the book. For covers, she didn’t have a say until A Conjuring of Light. Surprisingly, Tara had a lot of say in her cover for Timekeeper. Victoria’s key advice was to write for yourself. You can’t control what will sell or that everyone will read or like it, but readers can tell if the author is passionate and loves what they are writing. When Victoria writes in different genres (middle grade, YA, adult) , she’s writing for that age version of herself.

After the conversation, we lined up for the signing. Both Victoria and Tara were great. A big thank you to Victoria Schwab, Tara Smith, and Kepler’s Bookstore for a fun event!
