On the eighth day of YA book recommendations, I’m recommending We Are the Perfect Girl by Ariel Kaplan!
A gender-swapped contemporary retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac, We Are the Perfect Girl follows Aphra as she deals with body dysmorphia. The hilarious narration throughout the novel will have you laughing out loud while the realistic portrayal of teenage self-esteem will hit you with all the feels. It’s fun, clever, and extremely well-developed. This story surprised me in the best possible ways and sat with me for days after I finished reading it. We Are the Perfect Girl is firmly one of my favorite books of the year and more people need to read it! Be sure to check out my aesthetic.

This sounds cute!
It was so good and I have made it my mission to talk about how much I loved it!
Gah! This book was so good, and I am glad to see it being featured. I had this as one of my Best of 2019, because it was fantastic!
I loved it so much! I hadn’t heard anything about it before I read it so I’ve definitely been trying to shout my life for it as much as possible! I am so glad you loved it as much I as I did too!
