Something Strange & Deadly Read-a-Along: Discussion One

I’m so excited to be a part of the Truthwitch Street Team (go Air Witches!). To help celebrate Susan Dennard and the upcoming release of Truthwitch, Stephanie Kaye from Steph In Wonderland is currently holding a (re)read-a-along of the Something Strange & Deadly trilogy! If you haven’t read this trilogy yet, now’s the time! Below, you’ll find my answers to a few of the questions for the discussion of chapters 1-14.

1. How do you think you would react to the Dead walking around in your city?
To be perfectly honest, I would probably freak out and lock myself in my house. I’d also stock up on the essentials such as books (and I guess water and food) before doing this of course.

2. What do you think about the Dead? Are you glad it isn’t too Zombie-ish, or were you hoping for a more Zombie-esque theme?
I’m definitely glad the Dead wasn’t too Zombie-ish. I don’t think I’m a fan of zombies in general, however, I do love watching iZombie so go figure. Anyway, I wasn’t really grossed or freaked out by the Dead in this trilogy. It was interesting reading about something that I hadn’t really had too much experience with before. I’m glad I decided to read SS&D

3. How do you feel about Eleanor as a character?
I LOVE Eleanor! Enough said.

Bonus: Share with us some of your favorite quotes!

  • “‘Miss Fitt, you know curiosity gets men killed.’ I grinned. ‘Then I daresay it’s good I’m a woman.'”
  • “I could keep quiet. But that didn’t mean I would.”
  • “Oh, an empress. I see. Pardon me, Your Majesty.”

  • Thank you so much for joining in on this, Jordan! I have to agree with you on the whole zombie thing. I’ve had the first two books of this trilogy on my shelf since 2013 and I was always wanting to read it because those covers are gorgeous, but when I found out that it was about Zombies, I was hesitant. I’m not really into the whole zombie craze that’s happening. But I love that it is the perfect amount of zombies!
