Author Interview: J.N. Tomczak

Today, I’m sharing an interview I had with J.N. Tomczak. J.N. Tomczak is the author of Kingdom of the Faeries, which you can find out more about after the interview. A huge thank you to J.N. Tomczak for answering my questions. Now onto the Q&A!

Interview with J.N. Tomczak

Okay, let’s start with something easy. What’s your book’s elevator pitch?

One faerie. One prophecy. An unwritten destiny.

What inspired Kingdom of the Faeries: Edenhart’s Rivalry?

This might sound like such a vague answer but when I discovered my love for reading. Afterwards, I knew what it was I wanted to be when I grew up, so this was the idea I decided to write about since I’m a big fantasy lover. This is coming from someone who grew up on unforgettable classics like The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and Willow.

Is there anything you regret writing (or not writing) in one of your books?

Not at all. I’m very meticulous when I write, so I always make sure the story is EXACTLY how I want it to be before I hit submit. If I’m not confident in my own work, I keep working at it until it feels right.

What is the greatest piece of writing advice you have received?

Sit and write. Simple and easy to remember.

Let’s talk characters. Which character do you relate to the most and why? Is there a specific trait that one of your characters have that you wish had?

That would most definitely fall to my MC, Aurora Vlnndruill. Like me, she’s constantly trying to please others and do the right thing. To answer your second question, Aurora is definitely someone you do NOT want to mess with. I let people walk all over me. Aurora on the other hand stands up for herself, and I really admire that about her.

Weirdest google search while writing?

How to kill an alligator. It was for educational purposes for my story, trust me. Those who read the sequel to Edenhart’s Rivalry when it comes out will see how I implemented that knowledge into the story.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Tough question, but I’m going to be original here. If I could have any superpower, I’d want to be able to conjure doppelgangers of myself. I think that would be cool, and if I was ever alone and in trouble, that would really help me out.

Coffee or tea?

Tea, but it HAS to be sweetened.

What was the last tv show you binge-watched?

Stranger Things.

Any favorite recent reads that you’d recommend?

Yes! Star Wars Trilogy (the originals), Cinder by Merissa Meyer, and The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor.
