B-Fest Teen Book Festival Recap

This past weekend was Barnes & Noble’s first ever B-Fest! B&N had a fun line-up of events all weekend long with hundreds of YA authors in attendance. B-Fest kicked off with Trivia Blast from Penguin Teen and Random House’s First In Line on Friday night. There were about 16 people participating in the trivia game at my local store. Man, some of the questions that were asked were hard, but my book knowledge prevailed and I ended up winning!

The next morning, my brother and I drove an hour to get to one of the locations that was giving away Stalking Jack the Ripper ARCs. Much to my surprise and delight, the store had a table full of ARCs and I was able get 8, including Replica!!

After the morning event, I drove home, dropped off my brother, and then went to the train station to pick up a friend who came to visit me. We went straight to my nearest B&N for the games. At this event, there was only one other girl, so the rules changed a little and we all won a round of bookish pictionary! I was also able to pick up the samplers and swag that was being given out during the morning event, and I met the lovely Deirdre Riordan Hall, author of Sugar and Pearl, whose books I can’t wait to read!

On Sunday, a writing workshop was hosted. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend this event. But I am curious about it! So if you went, please share your experience with me! And if you met any authors during this weekend festival, which ones?

  • Wow, this sounds great! The only book festival I attend is our annual Texas Teen Book Fest, which is HUGE, but I do miss a lot of opportunities to see other authors. I always love meeting authors, because they seem to be the most modest, down-to-earth, friendly people out there. And they really LOVE what they do.
Glad you had a good time!

    • The Texas Teen Book Fest sounds like so much fun! I’ve been to a few local festivals and I have had a fun time at all of them. I really hope Barnes & Noble hosts this teen book fest again next year!

  • Congrats on winning! I wasn’t able to go to the first day of the events, but I did end up receiving lots of book swag the next day. I hope you enjoy your books. SJTR and Replica sound extremely awesome!

    • Thanks! I’ve been wanting to read SJTR and Replica for a while now so those two are the ones I was most excited to receive! 🙂
