12 Days of YA Book Recommendations: Day 8 – Historical

12 days - theheartofabookblogger

On the eighth day of YA book recommendations, I am sharing two of my favorite historical fiction reads!

code name verity - theheartofabookblogger

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein is my favorite book. It is so heartbreaking and beautiful and stunning and there are just no words to describe how much I love this book. I especially love how the friendship between the two main characters is the main theme in the novel. Having a novel focus on two best friends while they work together during WWII was the perfect combination. Stop what your doing right now and go read this book. Just do it, you won’t regret it.

vengeance road - theheartofabookblogger

I am only half way done with Vengeance Road, and I am loving it. I have not read a western novel before, but Erin Bowman’s portrayal is great. The writing, setting, plot, and characters are fantastic. Even better, I love that Kate is out for revenge and that you know it. There is no sugar-coating her need for vengeance. Seriously, you better get out of her way or you’ll be shot. Be sure to check out Vengeance Road if you’re looking for a badass heroine out for revenge.
